Martha Beck on Finding Your True Nature

Martha Beck says in Finding Your Way in a Wild New World (2012) that she wants to "write hopeful thoughts for people who [feel] imprisoned...write books that [make] people feel free...tell readers they [can] create their own rules."  She wants each of us to experience the joy of reclaiming our true nature.  She says that if we let our true nature direct our choices, "life will work much, much better...it will bring you freedom, peace, and delight; give you the optimal chance of making a good living; and help you create the best possible effect on everything around you." She encourages each of us to look for anything that awakens in us such happiness that we want to return to it again and again--these are the things that fulfill our life's real purpose.

When you read this, what thoughts come to you?  What awakens such happiness in you that you want to return to it again and again?  I love the idea that we can do the most good in the world by identifying and devoting ourselves to those things that bring us the greatest happiness.
